Ontario's Next Top Entrepreneur

Do you have an innovative start-up idea? Are you looking for your next big break?

It's simple.

Present your idea in a short application form, telling us why it could be the next big thing. Or show us your creative side and send in a short video! The top five teams will move on to deliver their pitch at Ontario Centres of Excellence's (OCE) Discovery 2010 conference. The winning team will be enrolled in OCE’s Centre for Commercialization of Research's New Entrepreneur Program where they will be granted up to $18,000 ($6,000 per team member), have access to advisory services, and have the opportunity to network with key mentors and private investors.

Are You Eligible?

• Members must be enrolled at an Ontario university, college, or graduate school at the time of application or have just graduated within the last two years (April 2008).
• Members of the team should be from multi-disciplinary academic backgrounds. At least one team member must be pursuing a degree in Business or a related field.
• Teams must present a viable business idea related to the technology, healthcare, service, social media, or retail industries.
• Teams must have the desire and be committed to using the grand prize ($18,000) solely for the purpose of starting their business.

  You can win $6,000 per team member, up to $18,000 that is only repayable if your company is making money two years down the road!

2. Semi-finalists will participate in a phone interview with a panel of judges.
3. The top five teams will be invited to deliver their pitch for a panel of judges at the Discovery 10 Conference on Monday, May 17, 2010.
