Premier's Innovation Awards

Every year, Ontario recognizes world-class innovators who are changing the face of medicine, health technology, cleantech, communications technology and digital media. On May 18, 2010, Premier Dalton McGuinty once again honoured a remarkable group of Ontarians who are inventing our economic future and shaping our world.

Ontario Centres of Excellence, in partnership with MaRS, hosted this year's Premier's Innovation Awards at Discovery 2010. Awards were given out in the following three categories:

  • The Premier's Discovery Awards celebrate Ontario's most accomplished researchers. By showcasing individual achievements, the program aims to strengthen Ontario's attractiveness as a global research centre.
  • The Premier's Catalyst Awards are helping to build a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in Ontario by recognizing leadership, celebrating success and rewarding risk-taking.
  • The Premier's Summit Awards celebrate and support Ontario's most outstanding medical researchers, making it possible for them to significantly expand their research programs. This helps Ontario attract and retain exceptional researchers from around the world.

The Premier's Innovation Awards are an important part of Ontario's Innovation Agenda, the province's plan to build an innovation economy that turns new knowledge into new jobs, better health care, a cleaner environment and endless possibilities for Ontario families.
